Joseph McMahon and Ella Small

Patrolman Joseph McMahon (NYPD) and his wife Ella Small.

Mulluny / Blunny / O Mullunaig

The spelling of name varied - Mulluny Muluny Mulluney and Mullaney - there are mulla neys in that area. Kilrush at that time had English/British admins. and as Tom and Bridget spoke Irish - no schools - so didn't read or write - Tom was Tomas O Mullunaig - pronounced Vulluny - accent on M gave it a V sound and accent on I at end -a silent g gave it a y sound - letters y or v are not in Irish alphabet. So when their children were registered at birth - various spellings used. Registrar thought he heard a 'B' sound and put down Blunny, Blunney and Blunnie.
